The Archaeological Park of Pompeii keeps and preserves some of the most important and well known human remains in the world, like the famous casts, which are unique in the whole world.It represents one of the most suitable places to deal with preservation, store and display of those unique materials in an ethical way. These issues are also at the core of the vision of the Museo Egizio, which houses a truly remarkable collection of mummies, and they will be then tackled in two conferences, respectively on 20th-21st May (Pompeii-Naples) and 30th September - 1st October (Turin).
The first one will focus on the situation of biological heritage: his definition, the legal situation, inventory, and conservation, but also the links with heritage communities, relations with visitors and the limits and demands of scientific research. The University Federico II of Naples has also a great interest in this topic by virtue of the connections with Pompeii and the great commitment in training and formation of the future archaeologists and curators.
